Google Hangouts Meet
Google Hangouts Meet is an application that permits a group to communicate on a video conference with the ability to demonstrate documents or images or other related computer screen content by the participant selected screen view. The application is very helpful when there is a necessity for discussions, but people cannot meet all at once.
PDF Converter Tool
A PDF Converter tool, wherever the device is located, is a very useful tool in terms of transferring or sending documents that needed viewing or had to be accessed. Considering there are different formats of word processors like Microsoft Word and Google Docs, it is always important to download important semester work, such as term essays, into a PDF in case of accidentally deleted files or corrupted download files.
Calendars
Creating a customized calendar is very important in your first year as a student at NJIT. Understanding the importance of late course registration, submitting an assignment on time with Moodle, or other timely matters is why it is crucial to have your events, due dates, or other commitments planned on a calendar. This is for those who have not done so before, especially.
CamScanner
CamScanner was recommended to me by various Biomedical Students and other college departments. Cam Scanner allows you to photograph an image and converter to a clean, filtered scan for free. The CamScanner provides a good amount of storage and if you are interested in more accessibility, you can always delete extra files or duplicates.
Google Docs and Microsoft Online
Google Docs and Microsoft Online are for documenting editing on an account-specific website. For Google Docs, it is located on the Google Drive. For Microsoft Word Online, it would be in the OneDrive application. The website is very helpful if you are using various computers to complete work (such as a library desktop or your work computer). The information is mainly auto-saved and they may allow Add-On features that work with annotations or image decks, free for use.
Dropbox
A person will simply have to download the Dropbox application on their phone device or laptop/desktop to have an online hard drive. This hard drive allows for the person to have access to their Dropbox files offline. The Dropbox application also shows who was on the application last and what the exact step-by-step edits were. The document can be turned into a PDF.
Chegg eReader
Chegg eReader is good for those who like to annotate or mark up their textbooks. This application is useful for bookmarking, finding specific words in a section, creating highlights, and providing recommendations to match the book you have read. The eReader comes from the book your purchase online to use for class.
Grammarly
The Grammarly allows for a good habit of proofreading. Proofreading can be a hard habit to follow consistently when writing in emails or texting a person. However, you can enable the web browser plugin to use the application constantly, so that way you can remain professional, mature in your writing.
Mendeley
Mendeley is a free, online website that allows you to manage your research references. You can also select interest-groups, groups that relate to your research topics of preference such as “Education”, “Biology, or “Innovation”. The website allows you to locate the source where you can put the date of access, DOI, etc
The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program)
When you are embarking on undergraduate research, you will be researching under a faculty supervisor. However, it is also important to understand that some work will be independent. In order for you to know the proper ways of acquiring data and to select appropriate references, you can take these training modules to better produce great work
